Livin’ the American Dream

I did!  I really, truly did!

It was 8th May 2015 when I started my 80 day travel across North America.

I travelled with 12 other travellers (who I’d never met before) through a company called Trek America; we had a designated driver who followed the route provided and we camped our way through 48 states.

We started in Miami and finished in Seattle.

It was a rollercoaster of an experience as, not only was I on a bus with 13 strangers, I had never camped before in my life but it was also the longest I’d ever been away from home.

However, all of the fear I experienced beforehand quickly evaporated when the trek snowballed into the most amazing experience I’d ever had.  The places we visited were just absolutely incredible; they were stunning and they were breathtaking.

We hiked up mountains, we explored cities, we witnessed natural phenomenons and we had true American experiences (such as attending a keg party and playing Beer Pong, eating proper American treats such as peanut butter and ‘jelly’ sandwiches, and being on tornado watch).

Three years later and I feel as if I’m constantly longing to go back and do it all again.

I will never ever be able to put into words what I experienced; but sharing my pictures on Instagram is giving me a chance to share those memories, and hopefully encourage others to want to travel to these places.

If anyone out there is wondering whether to go travelling but is feeling a little wary, then please go with Trek America and travel ‘The Great 48’.  Whether it’s your first or twentieth trip, it’s definitely an experience of a lifetime.

Do it!  Do it!  Do it!!

xoxo
